2012 has proven to be one of the most challenging years for me. I've been through a lot of obstacles, especially regarding my career, that pushed me to make difficult choices and decisions and lead me to where I'm at right now.
Despite all that, there are still lots of other reasons for me to be thankful.

ONLINE FREELANCER: VIRTUAL ASSISTANT
Generally, I have improved my virtual assistance skills and extended my services to other websites like Fiverr and PeoplePerHour and other means. I've also started offering a few more tasks this year.
I'm still geared towards having seamless ratings on all of the tasks I do, and maintaining a 100% rating on Fiverr is a good jumpstart for the coming year, 2013. My sincerest gratitude to all of the clients/ buyers who continously trust me and patronize my gigs and services.

ESL, FILIPINO, AND PANGASINAN INSTRUCTOR
I came back to Italki to teach English and Filipino again and added my native language, Pangasinan, to my course offerings. The past few months were productive so far not just because I was able to garner a perfect average of 5.0 from all the sessions that I held, but most of my new and old students scheduled more sessions with me too.
Teaching Pangasinan is a bit out of my league but I am able to deliver all the necessary information and all my sessions proved to be very beneficial so far.
Thanks a lot to all of my students and friends who refer prospective students my way!

Telecommuting: The Benefits of Working from Home

As the simplest meaning provided by Google says, Telecommuting (also referred to as teleworking) is the process wherein an employee is working from home (remotely), making use of the Internet, e-mail, and the telephone.

Being an English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor before in a South Korea-based Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) Company/ Educational Institute, I've tried telecommuting more than once, considering the fact that my schedule directly relies on the schedules made by the students. Most of the time, I do this when I'm just making my students' daily and monthly evaluation reports, but of course, still checking on my schedule religiously so I can easily report at my office in case I'm made available on an on-call basis.

Having experienced so, there's no doubt that it is far more convenient to telecommute. I saved the money for my fare and there's no need for me to waste my time and effort going to office and end up doing nothing the whole day, too.

CarInsurance.org recently released an infographic, entitled "The Perks of Working from Home," that could answer most of the questions about the latest trend in telecommuting.

This trend has gained popularity:
From 2005-2012:
US workforce grew just 3%
But the number of regular telecommuters grew 66%
